Privacy Policy
This policy describes how quizoland.com collects, uses, and protects your personal data, in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

2. Data Collected
Quizoland collects the following data only when you voluntarily create an account:

No data is collected if you play without creating an account. You can play all quizzes freely and anonymously.
3. Data NOT Collected
- No password (authentication via magic link only)
- No payment data
- No precise geolocation: your browser's geolocation API is never used. Audience measurement and advertising only infer an approximate country and region from your IP address (see Section 4).
- No resale or transfer of your data to third parties.
- No profiling for automated decision-making that produces legal effects concerning you.
4. Audience Measurement and Advertising
4.1 Audience Measurement
Quizoland uses Google Analytics 4 to measure site traffic (pages viewed, most-played quizzes, device type, country).
This measurement is subject to your consent:
- No audience measurement cookie is set before you accept via the banner. The site defaults all Google consent signals (Consent Mode v2) to
denied. - You can decline with a single click, and change your choice at any time (see Section 4.3).
- If you decline, the site remains fully usable: all quizzes, scores, and leaderboards work exactly the same.
Legal basis: consent. Recipient: Google Ireland Limited, acting as a data processor.
4.2 Advertising — Google AdSense
Quizoland displays ads via Google AdSense. This ad network funds the site's operation, which remains free with no subscription required.
- Third-party vendor: Google, as a third-party vendor, uses cookies to serve ads on this site. Google and its partners may set and read cookies or similar identifiers on your device.
- Personalized ads: if you consent, these cookies allow ads to be tailored to your interests, based on your visits to this site and others.
- If you decline: ads are still shown, but become non-personalized — they are then chosen based on the content of the page you're viewing and an approximate location, without any advertising profile.
- No account data is shared with the ad network. Your username, email address, and scores are never shared with Google AdSense or its partners.
You can view the list of advertising technology providers that may be involved, along with their respective policies, on the Google Ad Technology Providers page. You can also disable Google ad personalization at any time via Google Ads Settings, or opt out of third-party vendor cookies via aboutads.info and youronlinechoices.com.
Legal basis: consent for personalized ads and the placement of advertising cookies; legitimate interest in funding the service for non-personalized ads. Recipient: Google Ireland Limited and its advertising partners.
4.3 Your Choice and How to Change It
Consent is collected through Google's consent management platform (Funding Choices), compliant with the IAB Europe Transparency and Consent Framework (TCF). The banner is displayed on your first visit and lets you accept or decline.
To change or withdraw your choice at any time, use the "Manage Privacy Options" link at the bottom of every page. Withdrawing consent is as easy as giving it and takes effect immediately.

The exact list of partners that may set a cookie, along with their purposes, is available in the consent banner under "Manage Options."
The quizo_session cookie is a strictly necessary technical cookie required for authentication to function. It contains only a random session identifier—no personal data.
The quizo_remember cookie is a convenience cookie that stores your username and email on your device to make it easier to log back in. It is never shared with third parties, and you can delete it via the "That's not me" link on the login page.
localStorage data stays on your device and is never shared with third parties.
6. How We Use Your Data
Your data is used exclusively to:
- Authenticate you on the site (sending magic links by email)
- Display your username on public quiz leaderboards
- Save your scores and progress
- Notify you by email when another player beats one of your scores (if you've enabled this option—you can turn it off anytime from your account or via the unsubscribe link included in every email)
- Send you the weekly newsletter (new quizzes, most-played quizzes, your ranking) only if you've explicitly subscribed—unsubscribe anytime from your account or via the link included in every email
Your account data (username, email, scores) is never sold, rented, or shared with third parties.
The only exception is the audience-measurement tool described in Section 4: if you've accepted it, the corresponding browsing data (pages viewed, device, country) is processed by Google as a data processor. Your username, email, and scores are never shared with them.
7. Data Retention
- User account: retained as long as the account is active
- Scores: retained as long as the account exists
- Session tokens: deleted after 30 days
- Magic links: deleted after 1 hour or after use
8. Security
- HTTPS connection required
- HttpOnly and Secure cookies
- Random authentication tokens (256 bits)
- Single-use magic links with a limited lifespan (1 hour)
- No stored passwords
9. Your Rights (GDPR)
You have the following rights regarding your personal data:
- Access: obtain a copy of your data
- Rectification: correct your data
- Erasure: request deletion of your account and all your data
- Portability: receive your data in a readable format
- Objection: object to the processing of your data

10. Hosting and Data Transfers
Site and account data (username, email, scores) are hosted by PlanetHoster on servers located in France and Switzerland.
If you've accepted the audience-measurement tool, the corresponding data is processed by Google Ireland Limited and may be transferred to the United States under the Data Privacy Framework and the European Commission's standard contractual clauses. Declining the audience-measurement tool prevents any such transfer.
11. Changes
This policy may be updated from time to time. The date of the last update is shown below.
