Asia Flags Quiz: recognize 40+ countries across the continent

The Asian continent is home to more than forty countries, each with its own flag and symbols. This Asia flags quiz walks you through the best-known emblems — Japan, South Korea, China, India, Thailand — as well as the more obscure ones, like Bhutan, Turkmenistan, or East Timor. Ninety verified questions, spread across three difficulty levels, in the same spirit as our other geography quizzes. You play right in your browser, no sign-up and no download required.

Recurring symbols: stars, crescents, suns

Many Asian flags share common motifs. The star appears on China (five yellow stars), Vietnam, Singapore, and even Uzbekistan (twelve stars). The crescent, associated with Islam, appears on the flags of Turkey, Pakistan, the Maldives, and Turkmenistan. The sun dominates three famous flags: Japan with its red disc, Kazakhstan with its golden sun above a steppe eagle, and Kyrgyzstan with its forty rays representing the founding tribes. Three motifs, three different readings of the same sky.

Iconic flags: from Japan to Lebanon

Some flags are instantly recognizable. Japan with its red disc on a white field, South Korea and its taegeuk surrounded by four trigrams, India and the blue 24-spoke Ashoka Chakra. Thailand stacks five horizontal stripes (red, white, blue, white, red). Israel places a blue Star of David between two blue stripes, on a white field echoing the tallit. Saudi Arabia displays the shahada and a white sword on a green field. Lebanon, finally, places a green cedar at the center of its flag — the same tree that appears on its coat of arms.
