Marty, Doc, and the DeLorean
Michael J. Fox plays Marty McFly, an '80s teenager hurled back in time to 1955 against his will. Christopher Lloyd plays Emmett "Doc" Brown, the eccentric scientist who invented the time machine. The vehicle: a stainless-steel DeLorean DMC-12, first powered by plutonium, then by the Mr. Fusion reactor in the sequels. The flux capacitor requires 1.21 gigawatts and a speed of 88 miles per hour to trigger a jump through time. The easy and medium questions cover these basics: the car, the characters, release dates, and the iconic line "Nobody calls me chicken."
1955, 1985, 2015, 1885: Four Eras, One Clock
The trilogy plays out across four distinct eras. Starting point: October 26, 1985, Hill Valley, California. Marty travels back to 1955, where he crosses paths with his own teenage parents. Back to the Future Part II sends Marty and Doc to October 21, 2015, complete with hoverboards, self-lacing shoes, and a World Series-winning Cubs team. The third installment drops into September 1885, home to Buford "Mad Dog" Tannen, Biff's ancestor. The time paradox caused by the Grays Sports Almanac drives the plot of the second film. The hard questions dig into these details: exact dates, Marty's aliases (Calvin Klein in 1955, Clint Eastwood in 1885), and Doc and Clara's sons, named Jules and Verne.
A Timeline Format for a Change
Looking to mix things up? The chronological quiz challenges you to put the trilogy's events in order: the release dates of the three films, the sequence of time jumps, and the DeLorean's appearances. The free-entry quiz format asks you to type out the names of actors, characters, or locations yourself, a tougher challenge than multiple choice.
