Nature Quiz: Trees, Flowers, Wildlife, National Parks

Quizoland's nature quiz brings together seventy-seven questions about the natural world in France: oak and fir forests, woodland flowers, fall mushrooms, migratory birds, and the large mammals of the Alps and the Camargue region. These quizzes are part of our broader science quiz category, alongside biology, chemistry, and astronomy. Three sets of ten questions cover the basics, biodiversity, and naturalist trivia. Trees, Flowers, and Mushrooms Across France

Forest covers about 31% of mainland France, with oak as the dominant species, followed by beech, chestnut, and pine. When it comes to flowers, roughly 160 species of wild orchids have been recorded, many of them protected. Fall brings porcini, chanterelles, and black trumpet mushrooms—but also the death cap, responsible for 90% of fatal mushroom poisonings. Questions cover tree identification, the blooming season of lily of the valley, traditional uses of wood, and Périgord black truffles (Tuber melanosporum).

Ecosystems, National Parks, and Biodiversity

France's national parks protect a wide range of natural habitats today, including the Écrins, the Cévennes, the Mercantour, the Calanques, Guadeloupe, Réunion, French Guiana, Port-Cros, the Pyrenees, and the Forêts park. The Amazonian park in French Guiana alone covers more than 3 million hectares, making it the largest in the European Union. In the Alps, the bearded vulture was reintroduced starting in 1986 after disappearing in the early twentieth century. The quiz also covers Mediterranean scrubland, Gavarnie Falls (422 meters), and the olive trees of Roquebrune.
