Outlines: Natural Earth (public domain). Only a country's main territory counts: a tap on its distant territories (overseas islands, etc.) is measured from the main territory. Taiwan and Palestine are drawn on the map but never asked, because the U.S. government does not formally recognize them as states.
How scoring works
Each country is worth up to 10 points. A tap inside the country scores the maximum; outside, the farther you are, the fewer points you earn. Speed counts for a quarter of the points. Only the main territory of a country counts: Alaska and Hawaii count for the United States, but far-off overseas islands do not.
Three levels
The 59 Large countries are the biggest countries, from Russia and Canada to Paraguay. The 72 Mid-size countries are the next tier. The 64 Small countries are the hard ones, from Bhutan to Vatican City: use the zoom buttons on a phone. Each round draws 10 countries at random from the level you pick.
